Naughty nuncio in news series called ‘Vatican

Here’s a first look at Matthew Goode and Rebecca Ferguson, in Italy (the Villa Borghese) shooting “The Vatican,” a Showtime pilot directed by Ridley Scott.

It’s Scott’s first time filming in Rome since he directed Russell Crowe in the Oscar-winning “Gladiator.”

“The Vatican” will tackle the internal spiritual, power and political struggles within the modern-day Vatican.

Goode stars as papal secretary Bernd Koch and Ferguson as Countess Olivia Borghese, while Bruno Ganz — who portrayed Adolf Hitler in the 2004 movie “Downfall” — will star as the pope.

Kyle Chandler and Sebastian Koch also co-star in “The Vatican,” which has been said to mix elements of “Upstairs Downstairs” with “The Sopranos.”
