Braves notch 10th straight

Justin Upton, Jason Heyward and Dan Uggla homered in the eighth inning, and Juan Francisco hit a pair of solo shots earlier to help the Braves win their 10th straight, 6-3 over the Royals last night in Atlanta.

The 10-game winning streak is its longest since the club won 15 straight from April 15-May 2, 2000. The Braves are 12-1 and off to their best start since they began the 1994 season 13-1.

The Braves have outhomered opponents 25-7 and outscored opponents 68-25 for the best run differential in the majors.

Padres 9, Dodgers 2

Los Angeles, Jason Marquis pitched three-hit ball over 7 2/3 innings for his first win of the season and Alexi Amarista tied a career high with four RBIs.

Red Sox 7, Indians 2

In Cleveland, Mike Napoli hit a three-run double in Boston’s seven-run second inning. The game marked Indians manager Terry Francona’s first game against the Red Sox, the team he led to two World Series titles during eight seasons in Boston.

Tigers 6, Mariners 2

In Seattle, Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run homer and drove in Detroit’s first four runs.

Orioles 5, Rays 4

Baltimore, Matt Wieters homered and Nate McLouth scored twice for the Orioles.

White Sox 4, Blue Jays 3

Toronto, Dayan Viciedo doubled home the go-ahead run in the ninth inning for Chicago.
