Business owner accused of XXX revenge

A New Jersey businessman was so angry about an article that ran the Newark Star-Ledger, he bought the editor’s Web domain name — then redirected users to a hardcore porn website to get revenge, a new lawsuit claims.

Editor Kevin Whitmer claims the paper ran a series of negative articles between 2010 and 2013 about waterproofing company owner Alfred Demola, exposing his allegedly shady business practices such as not returning customers’ deposits.

The articles, which ran in the business column “Bamboozled,” enraged Demola — who called the editor, demanding the paper stop writing about him, the lawsuit claims.

But the paper ran the series anyway and Whitmer later got a message from Demola, threatening to publish paper staffers’ personal information using “.com names” he had purchased, court papers state.

Whitmer then visited the Website Kevinwhitmer.com and was disturbed to find himself redirected to a smut site, according to the suit.

The waterproofer allegedly did the same thing to the paper’s publisher, Richard Vessa.

They are both now suing Demola in New Jersey Federal Court for harassment, cybersquatting, and privacy violations. They each seek $100,000 plus attorney fees.

Demola, of the basement waterproofing firms Aqua-Dri, Thrifty Waterproofing and Water Shield, claimed didn’t pull the porn site trick.

“I didn’t do that, they’re messing with me,” he told The Post.

He also claimed part of the paper’s coverage about his business hadn’t been accurate.

“They lied. They claimed I was the owner and I wasn’t. I showed them licenses.”

Kevinwhitmer.com now directs web surfers to Godaddy.com, which sells domain names.

The lawsuit notes Demola had called freelance reporter Karin Price Mueller, who penned articles on Demola for the paper.

“Talk to the owner of the newspaper… ask if they want to buy their domain names from me,” Demola said, according to the lawsuit.
