‘Steve Harvey’ backs up all the talk … with ratings

Steve Harvey continues to rake in solid numbers with his self-named talk show midway through its second season in syndication.

Here in New York, Monday’s “Steve Harvey” posted a season-high 2.25 rating on Ch. 4 (3 p.m.) and won its timeslot in the daytime “money” demo of women 25-54.

Harvey also had a terrific week, nationally, for the week ending Oct. 28 — averaging a series-high 2.35 million viewers and also snaring its highest household rating in its history (1.8).

Next week is the show’s “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”-themed week, with segments taped (a few weeks back) in our fair city at venues including the Carnegie Deli, Capizzi’s Pizzeria and Spice Market. Host Steve Harvey also visits with everyday New Yorkers including subway cleaner Felicia Williams (who helped apprehend a subway mugger) and Upper West Sider Evelyn Rodriguez (Harvey babysits her five kids so she can have a spa day; he also cooks dinner for the kids).

Fueling the fire at Nick

The Post gets action.

Last week, we reported exclusively on the shocking news that Mr. Krabs fired krabby patty artiste SpongeBob SquarePants from The Krusty Krab. (Don’t worry, he ended up getting his old job back after Mr. Krabs saw the error of his ways.)

Well, that episode of “SpongeBob SquarePants,” entitled “You’re Fired!,” drew 5.2 million viewers — marking the biggest “SpongeBob” episode in two years. It also finished first in all the kiddie demos.

Memo to Nickelodeon: You’re welcome.

In other job-related TV news, “Dracula” star Jonathan Rhys Meyers — still gainfully employed on the low-rated NBC series (for now) — says Dracula’s dental configuration adds some verbal challenges to his job. “They give me a lisp,” he tells the Nov. 25 issue of People magazine about donning Drac’s fangs. “I have to re-record everything I say when I’m wearing them. It’s very difficult to speak without sounding like Donald Duck.”

Last, but not least…

Dean Cain, who’s starring in ION’s “Defending Santa” (Nov. 21) will join the network in supporting National Hunger and Homeless Awareness Week by handing out blankets outside of St. Bartholomew’s (325 Park Ave. & 51st.) on Nov. 20 . . . Science Channel’s movie “The Challenger Disaster” will be simulcast on Discovery Channel when it premieres this Saturday (9-11 p.m.) . . . The Conan O’Brien/Colum McCann series, “Irish Writers in America,” premieres Friday, Nov. 22 on CUNY TV.
