Slain slumlord’s business partner ‘ducks family wedding’ to stay hidden

The terrified business partner of slain Brooklyn slumlord Menachem “Max” Stark refused to come out of hiding to attend his nephew’s wedding Wednesday night, The Post has learned.

More than 300 people filled the Continental Caterers hall in Williamsburg, curious to see if Israel “Sam” Perlmutter would dare show up, according to one attendee.

“Normally, a wedding is 70 to 100 people. Everyone came looking to see him,” the source said.

“It’s a terrible disgrace, not being at his nephew’s wedding. Everybody was whispering and the family was demoralized.”

Perlmutter’s parents flew in from Montreal to attend the event, and “the family was telling everyone, ‘Oh, he’ll be here soon,’ but nobody ever showed up,” the source added.

Perlmutter, 42, hasn’t been seen in public since Stark’s burned body was found in a Long Island dumpster on Friday.

Perlmutter told police that he and Stark were into a loan shark for a $1 million debt, law enforcement sources have told The Post Security guards have been watching Perlmutter’s Williamsburg home, with marked police cars frequently swinging by.

Stark, 39, was violently abducted by two men during the blizzard late on Jan. 2, and cops think he may have been the target of a professional hit after being stalked by his killers for up to two weeks.

Stark ran rental properties riddled with code violations, and was involved in several real-estate schemes and sidelined as a loan-shark, sources have said.

Public records show Stark and Perlmutter are more than $40 million in debt.
