A downtown art house has opted to ignore an NC-17 rating for the lesbian romance “Blue Is the Warmest Color” and allow underage teens to see the film at the West Village theater.
The critically acclaimed movie, which got the rating because of an extended sex scene, opens Friday in the United States.
The IFC Center also said that anyone who travels from Idaho, where the film is effectively banned, will receive a free ticket.
The critically acclaimed movie won the Palme d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
