What’s behind CC Sabathia’s slim new look

Who says the camera adds 10 pounds?

In CC Sabathia’s case, he appears as half the man he used to be. A photograph recently posted on Instagram shows Sabathia — in a tuxedo for former teammate Rickie Weeks’ wedding last weekend — noticeably slimmer than he did when the 2013 season concluded.

But Sabathia’s trainer, T.J. Lopez, told The Post on Monday that the Yankees ace hasn’t lost weight this winter.

“He’s staying right around 270 or 275 [pounds], and that’s what he was this regular season,” Lopez said. “But this offseason we really focused on putting on muscle, doing it the right way, focus on his diet, more protein in his diet. He obviously looks great, and hopefully it shows on the field.”

Sabathia looked a tad wider last July.

Sabathia was 14-13 with a 4.78 ERA last season for the Yankees. The ERA was the highest of his 13-year career.

“Having the year he had last year, he’s coming back really with a vengeance and he wants to prove something now, that he can do it,” Lopez said.

Sabathia told Foxsports.com that he concluded his season early — a strained left hamstring forced him to miss his final start in September — allowed him to get an early jump on offseason conditioning.

“He’s been going full speed since before Halloween,” Lopez said. “This year he’s going to go into spring training in the best shape of his life. Not only with the [offseason] weight off — because that was a big thing, in the past we were always worried about getting the weight off, and that was the Yankees’ No. 1 concern so it was my No. 1 concern and so it was his.

“This year we didn’t have to worry about that. We started off where we wanted to be weight-wise, and it was all about body composition — putting on muscle and continuing to drop the fat. You see this guy off the field and you’re like, ‘Wow, he looks like a NBA player.’ He doesn’t look like CC does on the mound.”
