Carmelo Anthony out for Knicks’ Christmas game

The game-time decision: No.

Carmelo Anthony will miss the Knicks’ Christmas Day matinee against the Thunder at the Garden due to a sprained left ankle suffered Monday night in Orlando.

Anthony had been optimistic about his chances of playing Wednesday in the initial wake of the injury, but the decision to sit him was made an hour before tipoff and he was seen walking gingerly outside of the Knicks locker room. Moments before the announcement, coach Mike Woodson has said it was up to “medical and Melo.”

The reeling Knicks (9-18) also will be without starting point guard Raymond Felton (groin) against Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook and Co.

Woodson said he will start Tyson Chandler and Andrea Bargnani up front with J.R. Smith at small forward.
