Giambi makes a play for home

First baseman Jason Giambi, the former NY Yankee slugger who now plays for the Cleveland Indians, sold his apartment at The Empire, 188 E 78th St., for $7 million — down from its $7.35 million asking price.

But that’s still heavily pumped up from what he paid for it originally: $3.36 million, back in 2002. The 2,874-square-foot apartment has four bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms. The listing broker was Donna Olshan, of Olshan Realty, while the buyers’ brokers were Douglas Elliman’s Ann Marie Folan and Eileen Foy.
