Reps. rip shameless Weiner’s comeback

WASHINGTON — Anthony Weiner’s former colleagues in Congress are slamming his decision to run for mayor so soon after his sexting scandal.

Queens Rep. and county Democratic leader Joe Crowley sang the praises of Weiner’s mayoral rival Christine Quinn — and wouldn’t even mention Weiner’s name.

“There’s a limerick in this,” he quipped. “There once was a man named . . .”

Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-LI) ripped Weiner’s attempt at a comeback.

“What is it, 400 days since he left here? New Yorkers are forgiving but not that fast,” she said. “He’ll be on every late-night TV show,”

But Weiner appeared energized yesterday while stumping at the Memorial Day Parade in Laurelton, Queens.

He joked with a youngster about losing his first political campaign in third grade after his opponent gave out lollipops to classmates.

Some paradegoers were willing to give him a second chance.

“His wife forgave him, so why can’t we?” said Sonia Fletcher, 65, referring to Huma Abedin.

Weiner said he blew off Sunday’s Forest Hills parade — in his old congressional district — because he attended a conflicting event in The Bronx.
