Call it a night of “seconds.”
The Miami Heat won their second consecutive NBA title Thursday night — which was also the second-highest-rated NBA game in ABC history.
Miami’s 95-88 victory over San Antonio averaged 26.3 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
That was also the most-watched telecast on all of TV since ABC’s coverage of the Oscars in February, which pulled in 40.3 million viewers. In Miami, the game averaged a 44.2 rating — making it the highest-rated NBA game ever televised in the country’s 16th largest market.
It also netted a whopping 46.4 rating in San Antonio, which is the country’s 37th largest market.
All told, the 2013 NBA Finals were up 5 percent over last year’s overnight numbers.
The highest-rated NBA game in ABC’s history was Game 7 of the 2010 Lakers-Celtics finals, which snared an 18.2 rating and averaged 28.2 million viewers.
