Add Jenny McCarthy to the list of potential ‘View’ cohosts

You can add Jenny McCarthy to the list of potential co-hosts of “The View.”

McCarthy, who’s currently hosting VH1’s low-rated “The Jenny McCarthy Show,” is in “serious talks” to join ABC’s morning gabfest, according to usmagazine.com.

A “set source” told usmagazine.com that “the cast and crew get a kick out of Jenny” and that “she’s a good fit” who “works well with a group ensemble.”

Still, the report noted that McCarthy, 40, is “definitely open to it” — which could mean either she’s really is being courted by ABC or is floating the possibility herself to gauge interest in case her VH1 show is canned.

Joy Behar will be leaving “The View” next month, while Elisabeth Hasselbeck has been rumored to be on the way out since reports surfaced in March that she would be shown the door.

“View” den mother Barbara Walters — who executive-produces the show with Bill Geddie — is retiring next May, with both Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd expected to stay.

Brooke Shields — who, like McCarthy is a frequent “View” guest co-host — has also been on the short list of potential full-timers.

McCarthy, a onetime Playboy playmate, has a long TV history, starting with her hosting gig on MTV’s “Singled Out” and a short-lived NBC sitcom.

She’s also appeared as a guest star on numerous sitcoms, including “The Drew Carey Show,” “Two and a Half Men,” “Chuck,” “What I Like About You,” “J
ust Shoot Me,” Wanda at Large” and “My Name is Earl.”

She’s also appeared on the big screen in “Scary Movie 3.”
