Off-duty NYPD officer busted in alleged rape of 16-year-old girl: cops

An off-duty Staten Island cop was arrested for allegedly attempting to rape a 16-year-old acquaintance, cops said.

Police officer Peter Ciollo of the 120th Precinct was cuffed Wednesday in Staten Island and hit with a slew of felonies after he tried to perform a sex act with the teen on July 4 at his home, police sources said.

Ciollo allegedly gave the victim alcohol before allowing her to drive drunk around the parking lot of the Staten Island Mall while he was in the car, police sources said.

Ciollo then took the girl to his home where he gave her more alcohol before showing her porn on a computer, police sources said. He then kissed the victim and sexually assaulted her before the two fell asleep.

The victim said she remembers waking up to find that she was wearing the cops shorts before Ciollo’s wife came home and found the two in bed, police sources said.

Ciollo is charged with attempted rape, unlawfully dealing with a child, endangering the welfare of a child and sexual abuse.

He has been suspended without pay, according to a police department spokesman.

Ciollo showed up to his arraignment this afternoon at Staten Island Criminal Court sporting a mohawk before being released on $1,500 bail. His hysterical wife sat by as prosecutor Victoria Levin read from the court complaint in which Ciollo blamed the victim.

“She came on to me,” Ciollo allegedly told authorities. “ She told me she was 17.”

Defense attorney Richard Barrett defended Ciollo, saying his client is a dedicated public servant with deep roots to his community.

“Peter denies these allegations,” Barrett said. “He looks forward to his day court to fight these charges.”
