MIKE’S ‘COLD’ RETORT

Mayor Bloomberg brushed off a new poll yesterday that found some New Yorkers think he’s stony and unfriendly, saying “I am what I am” and that there’s nothing warm and fuzzy about running the city.

The Quinnipiac University survey found that 55 percent of voters say Bloomberg is cold and businesslike, while 30 percent view the billionaire mayor as warm and friendly.

Asked about the poll, Bloomberg said he doesn’t see anything lighthearted or carefree about making unpopular decisions and managing the city’s budget crisis as people lose jobs and homes are foreclosed.

“I’m going to call ’em like I see ’em, and I will say I don’t get any sense on the street of people being any less friendly than they’ve always been,” Bloomberg said.

“I am what I am,” he added.

The poll also found that Bloomberg’s approval rating is the lowest it has been in his second term, but still very high at 64 percent.
