‘PRIMETIME’ SETTLES

ABC News has settled a lawsuit filed against Diane Sawyer over a “Primetime” special she hosted called “Step Families in Crisis.”

The suit was filed by a young upstate woman, Kyle Nelson, who was seen on the show being beaten by her father during a family argument when she was just 15.

The beating, which caused a public outcry when it aired on national TV, was caught by a video camera installed, with family permission, in her house.

The suit alleged that ABC should have alerted authorities, but did not.

No details of the settlement were released.

The girl, now 20, appeared on “Good Morning America” shortly after the controversy erupted in 2006 to assert she still loved her father and that the incident was isolated.

But in her suit, filed a year later, she claimed to be traumatized by it and had moved out of her father’s house since then.
