CONFESSED TEEN SLAYER PLEADS NOT GUILTY

A teenager arrested in the stabbing death of a New York City newsman has pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree murder and weapon possession.

John Katehis is being held without bail. He was arrested in Middletown, N.Y., and arraigned Wednesday night in Brooklyn.

George Weber was stabbed at least 50 times and his ankles were bound. Police say Katehis claimed he was answering an online ad offering $60 for rough sex.

Katehis’ lawyer, Herbert Moses, told reporters that his client was being used by an older man. He says details about their relationship will emerge later.

Weber worked 12 years as an on-air reporter at WABC in New York. He also had worked at stations in California, Denver and Pennsylvania.
