THE POST SEARCHES FOR ‘PARANORMAL’

A few weeks ago, you may have read about me catching a rapist with the U.S. Marshal’s from A&E’s “Manhunters.” (THE POST GOES ALONG FOR BRONX ‘MANHUNT’) Tonight, you can catch me on a special episode of A&E’s “Paranormal State,” catching ghosts with the Paranormal Research Society (PRS) out of Pennsylvania State University.

On the episode, single mother Sheri and daughter Sarah are haunted by something in their single family home. The home, which used to be a doll museum, was purchased by Sherri in 2003 after its former owner passed away.

Once Sheri reveals to the team how her late husband died, the “Paranormal” experts realize there may be more lurking in the shadows than they thought.

I met Ryan, Chip, Sergey, Chad, Heather, Katrina, Josh, and the crew at Sheri’s home in Cranford, New Jersey.

“This is a good old-fashioned ghost story,” says Ryan Buell, the show’s director and star. “Haunted objects can bring many things to a home, and dolls have been known to be haunted throughout the centuries.”

Sheri’s home is under construction, and exudes a certain creep factor since the walls are stripped of paint, while naked light bulbs hang from the ceilings and cast shadows around the room.

Sheri told “Paranormal” that she and her daughter see shadows moving across the walls in the dining room and frequently see an old woman in a long dress walking through the backyard. Not to mention the scratching noises that can be heard out of nowhere.

During downtime, I got the opportunity to talk to Chip about his experiences as a psychic.

“It wasn’t until I was 47 [years old] that I started talking to dead people, but it’s not like 1-800-Dial the Dead,” he says. “It doesn’t happen unless I’m open to receive. I’m no Whoopi Goldberg and I don’t want Patrick Swayze singing to me at all hours of the morning.

“This show has really expanded my perceptive [of] reality,” Chip says. “This show is Baptism by fire, bringing your face to the flame with the supernatural and the demonic.”

Ryan invites me to join Chad and Sherri in the basement – where most of the activity occurs – for dead time. I’m not going to tell you what happens next – you’ll have to tune in and see. But I will tell you this much – you won’t be disappointed.

If a ghost goes bump in the night, the PRS will be there to hear it.
