Lee knows he may not be back with Knicks next season

SARATOGA SPRINGS — David Lee realizes this town may not be big enough for himself and LeBron James next season.

The 6-foot-9 Lee is not only a terrific rebounder, he’s good in mathematics, too. If the Knicks land James or a different maximum free agent, Lee may be packing his bags for real after the season when the Knicks run out of cap space.

“It’s not up to me,” Lee said. “If a guy like LeBron James comes here, or a big-contract guy like that, it will be interesting to see what’s left and how I factor into that.”

Lee last week signed a one-year, $7.5 million contract with no guarantees for beyond April 14’s finale.

“[It] depends on what big-name player they get, how I work with that player,” Lee added. “The thing that’s good is I’m a guy who doesn’t need a lot of touches, doesn’t need the ball to be effective. I think I can work with anybody they get. We’ll see how I fit in. I’m looking forward to being here as long as possible.”
