Jayden is appealing Apple-ation

Droves of Big Apple parents took a page straight out of Britney Spears’ songbook — naming their baby boys Jayden like her young son.

The name topped the charts as most popular for boys born in the five boroughs for 2008, according to a study by the Health Department. For girls, Sophia was tops.

Spears’ younger son, Jayden James, was born in 2006.

The name — which has various spellings — first became popular nationally when star couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith named their son Jaden in 1998, said Jennifer Moss, founder of Babynames.com.

“He was named after Jada Pinkett and the name has jumped over to the girls’ charts nationally,” Moss told The Post. “A lot of girls have been named Jayden in the last two years.”

Name choices vary greatly by racial and ethnic groups with Hispanic parents preferring Ashley and Jayden, blacks Jayden and whites choosing Olivia and Daniel most often.

Among the rarest names are Armani for girls and Jeter for boys.
