Trolley jolly

The wheels on the trolley go ’round and ’round. We know this isn’t San Fran, but starting tomorrow, New Yorkers will have a trolley service at their fingertips — a “party” trolley named Molly.

“I always saw these trolleys in Chicago packed with people, and I thought it would be really successful here in NYC,” says Dave Pike, president and owner of New York Trolley Co.

The idea came about one day when the entrepreneur spotted an NYU trolley downtown.

“I asked the driver who the owner was, and went home to find out they had one for sale in Hoboken,” he says.

Now complete with the appropriate permits and a pair of drivers, Pike is ready for his clientele to start reserving the service.

So where exactly can you take it? “If you want to go on a pub crawl or have us drive you to a sporting event, we can seat 26 passengers and drive you anywhere in the state of New York,” says Pike.

As if being chauffeured with a group of your friends in a funky vehicle isn’t entertaining enough, there’s a BYOB policy on board. You can sit, stand, drink, dance (there’s an iPod hookup too) and drive the night away.

“There’s a two-hour minimum, and that’s $400, which is about $15 a person if you have all 26 on board. Each additional hour is $150, and you can have the trolley until 6 a.m. if you want,” Pike says.
