PSAL girls basketball playoff roundup: School of the Future shocks Tots

School of the Future is going to get the rematch it wanted and in the process it gave the PSAL Class A playoffs its first big upset.

The 12th-seeded Bulldogs beat No. 5 Tottenville, 59-53, in the second round Wednesday on Staten Island. School of the Future (12-3) will meet Manhattan A East rival and No. 4 Baruch College Campus in the quarterfinals March 7 at Hunter College.

Sienna Garraway had 20 points, Mecca Norfleet had 15 points and Egypt Calier added 14 for the Bulldogs. Tottenville finishes its season with a 16-6 record.

Baruch College Campus 46, Curtis 43: Autumn Harris King had 15 points and eight rebounds and Destiny Freeman had 15 points for No. 4 Baruch (16-3), which takes on No. 12 School of the Future in the quarterfinals March 7 at Hunter College. No. 20 Curtis finishes its season with a 12-15 record.

Medgar Evers 54, Evander Childs 45: Jasmin Robinson had 32 points to lead No. 1 Medgar Evers (21-2) in the second round. The Cougars meet either No. 8 Bronx Science or No. 9 Fort Hamilton in the quarterfinals March 7 at Hunter College. No. 17 Evander Childs falls to 12-7.

West 50th Street 62, Robeson 34: Justine Perry had 13 points, Phyllis Platt had 12 points and Jade Venson and Caleitha Berry each added 10 for No. 2 West 50th (22-4) in the second round. The Seahawks meet either No. 7 Long Island City or No. 10 Columbus in the quarterfinals March 7 at Hunter College. No. 15 Robeson is 11-5.

Columbus 63, South Bronx 26: Aday Eguaze had 22 points, Shaunese Crawford had 17 points and Asia Wheeler had 16 points for No. 10 Columbus (16-3) in the first round. The Explorers travel to No. 7 Long Island City for the second round Friday. No. 23 South Bronx is 9-10.

CLASS AA

Francis Lewis 72, Lehman 30: Syreeta Williams had 14 points, Shenita Urquhart had 12 points and Sabrina Jeridore and Jasmine Davis added 11 apiece for No. 2 Lewis (19-4) in the second round. The Patriots will take on either No. 7 Manhattan Center or No. 10 Truman in the quarterfinals Saturday at York College. Lehman finishes its season 4-13.

In the other ‘AA’ second-round Wednesday, No. 3 John F. Kennedy (18-8) beat No. 19 Clinton (4-13). The Knights meet either No. 6 Midwood or No. 11 Banneker in the quarterfinals Saturday at York College.

CLASS B

Edison 59, Richard Green 43: Chantal Mitchell had 16 points, Nikki Gloria had 12 points and Shaneila Cleghorn added 10 for No. 9 Edison (17-2) in the first round. The Inventors will meet either No. 8 East Harlem or No. 40 Manhattan Village in the second round. Green finishes it season 11-4.

Brooklyn Collegiate 60, McKinney 30: Emonni Cropper had 35 points and Stephanie Portis added 11 for Brooklyn Collegiate (10-2) in the first round. BC meets either No. 5 Hillcrest or No. 28 Baccalaureate in the second round. McKinney finishes its season 12-4.

Academy of American Studies 59, Queens HS of Teaching 44: No. 14 Academy of American Studies (16-3) will meet either No. 4 Bayard Rustin or No. 30 Morrisania in the second round. No. 19 QHST is 13-6.

Scholars Academy 40, Clara Barton 33: Rebecca Moers had 18 points for No. 27 Scholars Academy (11-8) in an outbracket game. Scholars visits No. 6 Fannie Lou Hamer in the first round Friday. No. 38 Clara Barton is 8-8.

Morrisania 68, EBC/Bushwick Leaders 57 (OT): Stephanie Guity had 24 points, Ogechukwu Uwanaka had 18 points and Shanice Williams added 12 for No. 30 Morrisania (11-5) in overtime in an outbracket game. The Knights visit No. 3 Bayard Rustin for the second round Friday. No. 35 EBC/Bushwick falls to 8-6.

Manhattan Village 48, Bushwick 36: No. 40 Manhattan Village (10-7) visits No. 8 East Harlem in the second round Friday. Bushwick finishes its season 10-4.

SSLJR 39, Riverdale/Kingsbridge 34: Tiana Freeman had 19 points and Tiffany McNally had 13 points for No. 29 SSLJR (11-6) in an outbracket game. The Spirits visit No. 4 Environmental Studies in the first round Thursday. Nelyssa Rosario had 18 points for No. 36 RKA (7-8).
