Closing belle at St. Vinny

It was bye-bye, babies yesterday at doomed St. Vincent’s Hospital, where the final newborn was delivered just before dawn.

Abigail Jancu arrived at 4:58 a.m. to beaming parents Anastasia and Robert Jancu, of Forest Hills, Queens.

The Jancus were the final couple in the hospital’s maternity ward when their 6-pound, 15-ounce angel was delivered.

“I was treated like a queen,” said Anastasia, 34, a former intimate-apparel designer and now a full-time mom.

“The last time we were here, it was so busy,” said Robert, 44, a lawyer, whose son, Gideon, was born at St. Vincent’s on Feb. 8, 2008.

The birth had to be induced because Abigail was well past her April 6 due date — and technically, the hospital’s deadline was Wednesday.

Anastasia said she has to be out of the hospital by today.

“Everyone was saying, ‘We will remember this moment. This is our last baby. Don’t rush it,’ ” Robert recalled.

Someone later gave him two packs of diapers, saying it was better to give them away rather than have them taken by the bankruptcy court.

Hospital spokesman Michael Fagan said St. Vincent’s is working with the State Department of Health to ensure an orderly closure.

The FDNY has been notified that the emergency room is closed and that patients should be directed to other hospitals.
