CHSAA baseball roundup: Connelly pitches Moore past St. Peter’s

Eddie Connelly outdueled Don Pagano, tossing a complete-game, three-hit shutout, striking out four with just one walk to lead Moore Catholic to a 2-0 victory at Richmond County Youth Complex in Travis Friday afternoon.

Connelly has figured in all three Mavericks victories this year with two wins and a save. Frank Smith broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the bottom of the sixth and Joe Todaro added a sacrifice fly to score Matt DiOrio for Moore (3-1). Pagano gave up one earned run on three hits, striking out seven with two walks for St. Peter’s (0-4).

Bishop Ford 3, Monsignor McClancy 0: Stephen Bove tossed a complete-game three-hitter, doubled and scored two runs to lead Bishop Ford (2-2) Friday afternoon at the Parade Grounds in Brooklyn. A single by Esteban Gomez drove in Bove, who reached on a walk, to put the Falcons in front, 1-0, in the first inning. Bove then doubled in the sixth inning, scoring on a wild pitch and Gomez, who was intentionally walked, scored the insurance run on a groundout to short in the sixth. McClancy fell to 2-2.

St. Francis Prep 7, St. Edmund Prep 6: The Terriers trailed 5-0 in the second and 6-2 after four innings, but rallied to beat St. Edmund Prep Friday afternoon at Cunningham Park. Lebro Burnette and Joe Lentino were each hit by pitches and Anthony Praintino worked out a walk to load the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

James Paskor belted a game-tying two-run single and Jason Perrone followed with the winning single to cap the rally. John Siano was solid in two innings of relief for St. Francis Prep (2-2). St. Edmund Prep fell to 1-3.

St. Raymond 9, LaSalle 2: Sophomore Anthony Colon went the distance, allowing three hits and striking out six, Freddy Gonzalez had two hits and two RBIs and Jonathan Crucey had two hits and one RBI for St. Ray’s (3-2) Friday afternoon at Ravens Field in The Bronx. LaSalle fell to 0-5.
