Vampires thrive by avoiding detection and so does the cast of “The Vampire Diaries.”
When not shooting on their Atlanta set, “We all stay under the radar,” says Katerina Graham, 20, who plays budding witch Bonnie Bennett. “We don’t go out and make ourselves known, we’re all pretty low-key — we just kick it, go out to dinner and watch movies.”
The undercover act works because “in Atlanta, people are more laid-back about it,” the actress and singer says.
Still, they do have some fans who show up while they’re shooting in nearby Covington, Ga., the stand-in for fictional Mystic Falls. “I make sure they’re warm and that they have food,” she says.
Mostly absent from November’s cliffhanger, Bonnie will be back in a big way during the fresh episode tonight at 8 on The CW. “Bonnie definitely gets a lot of love in the next episodes,” Graham says.
Next week’s episode marks Bonnie’s “first date in a long time,” Graham says, hinting that she and guest star Sean Faris have “some very cute date scenes … [but] fans will be shocked when they see the ending — like, ‘oh my gosh, I can’t believe that happened!’”
