Betty White’s career one for the ages

After all of her years on television, Betty White finally has something no other woman has — the record for the longest career in the medium.

The “Hot in Cleveland” star, 91, will make the 2014 “Guinness Book of World Records.” The new category recognizes her unbelievable 74 years in the business, which began in radio in 1939.

Brit Bruce Forsyth holds the male title also with his 74 years in the industry.

White has been steadily employed in television on such shows as “Life With Elizabeth,” “The Mary Tyler Moore Show” and “The Golden Girls.” She has won five Emmy Awards, including one for hosting “Saturday Night Live” in 2010.

White’s recent senior-citizen candid camera series “Betty White’s Off Their Rockers” was dropped by NBC, but “Hot in Cleveland” has been renewed for a fifth season by TV Land and if White is still with us next year, Guinness will have to update her title.
