Madoff gals fear ‘facing’ the jury

Their looks can kill — a jury.

Two women charged in Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme said their mug shots are so ugly, they would prejudice the jurors who will weigh their fates.

Short and portly secretary Annette Bongiorno, 65, and hatchet-faced office worker Joann Crupi, 52, want the photos excluded when they go on trial next month.

“Ms. Crupi’s mug shot has every conceivable hallmark of a jailhouse photograph, with the possible exception that she is not holding a ball and chain,” Crupi’s lawyer, Eric Breslin, wrote.

Both women — along with three male ex-Madoff staffers also awaiting trial on Oct. 7 — came under scrutiny last month after prosecutors revealed the Ponzi monster was enmeshed in an office love triangle with one of the defendants, but didn’t say which one.
