The zany rock musical “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson” will be part of Broadway history early next year.
Producers said Wednesday the show will close Jan. 2 after playing 120 performances at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.
The musical, which originated off-Broadway, stars Benjamin Walker as the seventh president of the United States. Jackson’s story is told in a series of vignettes and emo-inflected rock songs that veer from fratboy humor to Ivy League sophistication.
Alex Timber wrote the story and directs. Michael Friedman wrote the music and lyrics.
Last week, the musical was taking in less than half of its $924,000 potential.
It is the second musical in as many days to announce it will close. “The Scottsboro Boys” will end its run on Dec. 12 after a two-month run.
