Cuomo won’t seek Working Families gov nomination

New York Attorney General Andrew Cuomo won’t be seeking the nomination of the Working Families Party for governor at the party’s convention this weekend.

Cuomo adviser Phil Singer said Thursday in a statement that “there are several open issues that need to be considered, including but not limited to an ongoing federal investigation as well as policy and procedural issues.”

Party spokesman Dan Levitan says the party is cooperating with federal prosecutors. The inquiry reportedly is focusing on the party’s campaign finance practices.

Levitan says in a statement that Cuomo informed the party of his decision and the party expected to choose the best available candidate.

Singer says the Cuomo campaign will “revisit the question in September.”
