Highs & Lo’s at Puerto Rican Day Parade

It’s bad enough he wasn’t first choice for parade king –crooner Marc Anthony also had to trade in his luxe convertible for a golf cart yesterday at the 53rd annual Puerto Rican Day Parade.

Anthony — named the event’s ceremonial king after actor Osvaldo Rios dropped amid allegations he beat his girlfriend — was forced to schlep along Fifth Avenue driving his gorgeous wife, Jennifer Lopez, in a golf cart after their chauffeured Chevy Impala broke down.

Anthony and J.Lo had been riding on the back of the convertible for about a mile when they arrived at a grandstand near 69th Street for a TV interview. When they returned to the car, the battery was dead.

Members of their entourage quickly jumped out and pulled up the hood, and Anthony himself briefly looked to see what was wrong. Both he and J.Lo repeatedly shrugged and laughed.

Minutes later, a dozen cops arrived to push the lemon off Fifth Avenue, and parade organizers drove over in a golf cart.

Anthony drove the buggy himself to the end of the route, at 79th Street, while Lopez, in a strapless white dress that showed off a sexy black bra, waved a Puerto Rican flag.

“Marc and Jennifer were not fazed at all,” said Rafael Dominguez, a member of the parade’s board of directors. “What was so funny was how Marc handled it and how easily he drove the buggy. This is a man who must love to golf.”
