Campaign raises $41K for fire victim’s husband

Friends have raised $41,000 for a man whose husband died in a Manhattan high-rise fire.

The online campaign was started to help 32-year-old Michael Cohen cope with the death of 27-year-old Daniel McClung.

The two were married in July. They lived on the 38th floor of the 42-story building. Firefighters found them overcome by smoke Sunday in a stairwell near the 31st floor.

Cohen suffered severe lung damage.

The online campaign was started by a friend, Jennie Powell. Donations can be made on the web site fundanything.com.

The campaign surpassed its $10,000 in less than a day.

Powell, an online video creator, says all contributions will help Cohen in his recovery process.

Fire officials blamed a faulty electrical wire for the blaze.
