The world will have to make do with the Thrilling Three.
A death will shatter the Fantastic Four next month, transforming one of comic books’ most beloved and iconic teams into a trio.
Just who will die in “Fantastic Four” No. 587 — the Human Torch, the Invisible Woman, Mister Fantastic or the Thing — is a secret, but Marvel Comics Executive Editor Tom Brevoort says the plan to kill off one of the heroes has been in the works for more than a year.
“It’s not a flash-in-the-pan thing,” he said.
The issue — which will hit shelves on Jan 26. and come sealed in a black bag — will also mark the end of the series created by comic-book icons Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, who dreamed up the Fantastic Four in 1961.
“There won’t even be a book called ‘Fantastic Four’ anymore,” Brevoort said.
“Out of this moment, a new thing will be born.”
