Christie has 19-point lead in NJ governor’s race

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is holding onto a commanding advantage over his Democratic rival in the final days of his re-election bid, a poll released Saturday shows.

Christie, who has left the door open to a 2016 presidential run, leads state Sen. Barbara Buono 59 percent to 40 percent, the poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University found.

Buono, a former state Senate majority leader, represents a central New Jersey district that covers East Brunswick and Edison.

Christie’s lead, while still significant, has shrunk from the 24-point advantage he enjoyed three days ago in a poll by Richard Stockton College of New Jersey.
