PSAL/Private boys basketball roundup: Williams leads LIC past Bryant, earns at least share of Queens A West crown

Aaron Williams scored a game-high 26 points and added six assists as Long Island City clinched at least a share of the Queens A West division title with a 75-57 victory over William Bryant.

Sadji Camara notched 14 points, Xavier Jones had 12 points and Arthur Santanna followed with 10 points and 17 rebounds for the Bulldogs (10-0). Jeffrey Pierre-Louis had 19 points and 10 assists for Bryant.

No. 8 Midwood 68, Fort Hamilton 57: Bryan Smith made seven 3-pointers, scored 34 points, grabbed eight rebounds and added eight assists and Emmanuel Joseph notched 10 points for Midwood (10-1) in Brooklyn A South. Fort Hamilton is 4-7.

Taft 57, Roosevelt 52: Jaden Edwards scored 16 points and Raheem Swinton followed with 11 for Taft (5-9) in Bronx A West. Roosevelt is 5-8.

Walton 59, DeWitt Clinton 55: Bernard Edwards had 24 points, 13 rebounds and four assists and Jovanni Rodriguez notched 18 points and 14 rebounds for Walton (9-5, Bronx A West), which rallied for the victory by outscoring Clinton (9-6), 24-14, in the fourth quarter.

FDR 70, James Madison 60: Jaquan Hollingshed had 20 points and 14 rebounds, Eric Sandoval followed with 17 points and 14 rebounds and Vonallen Pickett tallied 13 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for FDR (6-5) in Brooklyn A South. Madison falls to 2-9.

Telecommunications 74, Sheepshead Bay 71: Issak Bodon made four 3-pointers and poured in 24 points, Chris Martinez (12 rebounds) and Chris Chavez finished with 15 points apiece and Xavier Snagg added 12 for Telecom (6-5) in Brooklyn A South. Allen Bostick scored 15 points for Sheepshead Bay (5-6).

Norman Thomas 79, Art & Design 54: Corey James put up 18 points, 15 rebounds and eight assists, Osawaru Omorogbeakpata notched 14 points and nine assists and Richard Delacruz tallied 13 points for Manhattan A East-leading Norman Thomas (11-1), which rebounded from its first league loss to Hunter College last Wednesday. Art & Design is 1-11.

Hillcrest 80, Springfield Gardens 72: Shirland Reeves exploded or 30 points and 28 rebounds – 13 on the offensive glass – and Julius Sallet had 19 points and seven rebounds as Hillcrest (3-8) snapped a five-game losing streak in Queens A East. Springfield Gardens is 4-5.

Acorn 59, Tilden 44: Ibra Toure scored 18 points and grabbed 20 rebounds, Donovan Reddick notched 12 points and Jeremy Baker followed with 11 for Acorn (9-3) in Brooklyn A East. Tilden is 4-8.

Murry Bergtraum 47, Stuyvesant 42: Sharod Wade scored 12 points and Luis Tejeda and Daniel Dorcena had eight points apiece for Murry Bergtraum (7-4) in Manhattan A Southwest. Stuyvesant is now 7-5.

Hunter College 61, Julia Richman 34: Pranab Karki scored 17 points and Leo Liebeskind added 10 for Hunter College (8-4, Manhattan A East) while Angel Melo had 14 points and eight rebounds for Julia Richman (3-10).

CLASS AA

Curtis 64, New Dorp 31: Debonair Edwards scored 13 points, Omar Woods had 12 and Dashawn Richmond and Kevin McIntosh each added 11 for Curtis (12-1), which has won 11 in a row in Staten Island A. New Dorp is now 6-6.

Tottenville 70, CSI/McCown 69: Kevin Alesi hit five 3-pointers and scored 36 points and John Buonocore added 15 points for Tottenville (6-6) in Staten Island A. Brandon O’Keefe scored 17 points for CSI/McCown (4-8).

CLASS B

Newcomers 80, Robert F. Wagner Jr. 51: John Patri Villamin scored 31 points, Cristian Zapata tallied 23 points, 12 rebounds and four assists and Sergino Emmanuel added 10 points for undefeated Newcomers (9-0) in Queens B West. Robert F. Wagner is 5-4.

PRIVATE

Poly Prep 62, LaSalle 45: Alex Buford scored 20 points and Bradley Gifford added 14 for Poly Prep (8-1) in non-league.

Collegiate 59, Masters 46: Ryan Frankel scored 23 points and Connor Huff added 13 points and 10 rebounds for Collegiate (7-4) in non-league. Dominick Benger led Masters with 19 points.
