A Long Island doctor lost control of his high-priced SUV, plowed down a busy Brooklyn sidewalk and injured two pedestrians yesterday — then didn’t lift a finger to help them, disgusted witnesses said.

The doctor, orthopedic surgeon Pushpa Raj Bhansali, sideswiped eight businesses after his BMW X5 SUV jumped the curb on Flatbush Avenue near Troy Avenue, in Flatlands at 7:52 a.m., witnesses and authorities said.

The victims — two women in their 30s or 40s standing at a bus stop — suffered cuts and bruises to the face and head. One also suffered a leg injury and had to lean up against a building to avoid falling, witnesses said. Both were taken to Kings County Hospital.

Bhansali was not hurt in the crash — and witnesses said he rendered no aid.

Gerard Hughes, 31, said he heard the doctor on his cellphone with a lawyer, promising to keep quiet.

“I heard him say into the phone, ‘I know not to say anything to anybody,’ ” said Hughes, who took off his shirt and wrapped it around one victim’s head on the sidewalk to keep her insulated from the snow.

Cops did not arrest the driver and he was issued no summonses.

Doctors generally can’t be sued for walking away from injured people who are not their established patients. Good Samaritan laws shield doctors from penalty if they injure someone in spontaneous treatment, and don’t penalize caregivers for declining to help.

A friend of Dr. Bhansali’s insisted the driver was in no shape to pull out his stethoscope.

“It wasn’t out of any malice. The doctor felt dizzy. He felt stunned after the crash,” the pal said.

“He’s the kind of person who would not [ignore an injured person]. He’s a doctor and was extremely concerned with the victims, but he was feeling dizzy himself.”

The demolition derby began when the SUV, heading north, jumped the curb and struck the front of a restaurant under construction at 2085 Flatbush Ave.

The vehicle blew out the eatery’s windows and sent bricks flying.

Dolores Semidei, 42, manager of a coin-operated laundry next door, said of the initial collision, “I just heard a big boom. It sounded like a big explosion.

“I came outside and there was so much dust and debris flying, I didn’t see the two [people] who were hit at first.”

The chaos finally ended when the car destroyed a bike rack and handrail at the entrance of the Flatlands branch of the Brooklyn Public Library at 2065 Flatbush Ave.

“I was in the shop and I didn’t understand what that noise was,” said Verne Loce, 54, who operates ABC Locksmith, a business along the path of destruction. “It was metal-to-metal and all of a sudden, I see an SUV on the sidewalk, hugging the building.”

Assistants at Bhansali’s Brooklyn offices said the doctor wasn’t in yesterday, and no one could be reached for comment at his home in Old Brookville, LI.
