Colorblind fans are livid over Jets and Bills uniforms

As the Jets and Bills kicked off the NFL’s “Color Rush” experiment Thursday night, many fans were left seeing red.

Both teams wore monochrome uniforms for Rex Ryan’s return to MetLife Stadium. The Jets’ all-green and Buffalo’s all-red duds was a visual nightmare for TV viewers afflicted by red-green color blindness.

“If you are colorblind like me this NFL game is going to be hard to follow,” former Giants kicker Lawrence Tynes wrote on Twitter.

An NFL spokesman did not respond to emails seeking comment on whether the league took color-blindness into account when planning the promotion.

A recent estimate by the National Eye Institute is that 10 million Americans — the vast majority of them men — suffer from color blindness.
