Obama takes final bow at White House Correspondents’ Dinner

No one was safe during President Obama’s speech at his final White House Correspondents’ Dinner, as he skewered celebrities and both his political rivals and allies.

“The bright new face of the Democratic Party is here tonight — Mr. Bernie Sanders,” Obama joked about the 74-year-old socialist senator.

“I am hurt, Bernie, that you’ve been distancing yourself from me. That’s just not something you do to your comrade.”

Obama also took aim at his former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton.

“Hillary trying to appeal to young voters, it’s like your relative signing up for Facebook,” he joked.

The president mocked Clinton’s paid-speeches controversy, saying, “If this material works well, I’m going to use it at Goldman Sachs next year.”

But Obama saved his most acerbic humor for Donald Trump.

“I am a little hurt that he’s not here tonight. We had so much fun the last time,” he said about the billionaire, who was roasted at the 2011 dinner. “Is he at home eating a Trump steak, tweeting out insults to Angela Merkel?”

Obama also ribbed Trump’s failed real-estate ventures and Miss Universe ownership.

“They say Donald lacks foreign policy experience, but in fairness he’s spent years meeting with foreign leaders,” Obama teased. “Miss Sweden, Miss Argentina, Miss Azerbaijan.”

Obama also said Trump would be the best candidate to close Guantanamo Bay because he’s good at “running waterfront properties into the ground.”

Bill de Blasio was a target, too. The president, who started his speech late, ridiculed hizzoner for an awkward joke he made about “CP Time” during this year’s Inner Circle Event.

“I was running on CPT,” Obama said. “Which stands for: jokes that white people should not make.”

The president got some advice about leaving office from former House Speaker John Boehner, who appeared in a pre-recorded video.

“You can just be you for a while,” Boehner advised. “Yesterday I had a beer at 11:30 in the morning. And you know — McDonald’s now serves breakfast all day long.”

In the video, Boehner and his former nemesis watched a movie while munching on popcorn and strolled through the White House drinking wine.

Obama also took aim at celebutantes.

“Kendall Jenner is here,” Obama said about the “Keeping up with the Kardashians” star. “I’m not exactly sure what she does but I am told my Twitter mentions are about to go through the roof.”

Earlier, A-list celebrities, including the stunning Priyanka Chopra of ABC’s “Quantico,” strolled down the red carpet.

Other stars at the gala included legendary singer Aretha Franklin, actor Jeff Goldblum and “Star Wars” actress Carrie Fisher, who brought her pooch, Gary.

One of the odder pairings was hip-hop superstar DJ Khaled with Internet publisher Arianna Huffington.

Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren donned a purple dress with the symbol for Prince in a tribute to the recently deceased artist.
