Dad meticulously planned daughter's murder: cops

A Bronx dad fatally bludgeoned his pregnant daughter and then tried to hide her body in a grave he dug in the basement, police sources said Wednesday.

William Caruth, 61, was arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter in the death of Andrea Caruth over an ongoing dispute about money, police said.

The 39-year-old day-care operator had been missing since the weekend and was found at about 3 a.m. Wednesday under a pile of plywood, gravel and cement in the basement of her Corsa Avenue home, where she lived with her dad and her boyfriend.

Andrea’s murder appeared to be well-planned because her dad hollowed out the concrete before she died, sources said.

After their initial search of the home — which also served as a day care — police were unable to find evidence of her body, sources said.

But as the investigation progressed, cops began to suspect foul play and returned to search the property with cadaver dogs before eventually finding Andrea and the unborn child underneath the pile of rubble.
