Cuomo demands probe into alleged ‘gang rape’ at Bellevue Men’s Shelter

The Cuomo administration is demanding a police probe of an alleged “gang rape” at the notorious Bellevue Men’s Shelter that was never reported to authorities.

But top aides to Mayor de Blasio insisted the rape never happened and blasted state officials for making “wildly inaccurate” and “false” claims.

State officials said they heard from a security officer during a surprise inspection of the East 30th Street homeless shelter on Thursday that a resident was “hog-tied” and raped “a few weeks ago.”

“The Bellevue security officer stated that the resident was found, still bound, by a security guard,” state homeless-services chief Samuel Roberts said in a letter to city Human Resources Commissioner Steven Banks. Roberts complained the state was not informed of the alleged crime and that an incident report wasn’t filed.

He directed the NYPD and State Police to investigate the alleged crime and why it wasn’t reported.

But in a testy response, Banks suggested the report was erroneous.

“We could not have reported this incident to you since there is no evidence it occurred,” Banks said.

A police source said the security guard might have been referring to a non-sexual assault that happened two years ago.

Still, Banks said the city will conduct a probe “despite the absence of facts.”

The controversy comes amid a spate of crimes at homeless facilities, including the murder of a mom and two kids in a Staten Island hotel.
