Cool dad writes late note for daughter after Springsteen concert

This guy knows how to write late notes like a Boss.

An upstate dad chalked up his daughter’s tardiness to school Tuesday to attending a Bruce Springsteen concert the night before.

Patrick Pipino of Saratoga Springs took the honest route in pleading for Isabelle, 12, explaining that she attended the concert at the Times Union Center on Monday night with her sister, Sarah, 7.

“Last night Isabelle was lucky enough to see Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Albany, and darned if he didn’t play for three and a half hours,” Pipino wrote in the note, which he posted on Facebook.

“This may not seem like a good excuse, but have you ever wondered how many kids would be late — or miss school outright — if God were to suddenly appear? It’s something like that,” he wrote.

Pipino, a Ben & Jerry’s franchise owner, wrote on Facebook: “Ummm, so this just happened on the Boss’s blog ‘Backstreets.’ Followed by a pretty good chewing out from my wife, who is a teacher who knew nothing of my plans.”

Pipino pointed out that he wasn’t actually “blaming the boss” — but rather, just “acknowledging his culpability.”

“The odds of me being divorced by 5PM are 50:50. Any takers for a fat, over the hill, buck toothed, failed comedian. Ice cream is included,” he added Tuesday afternoon.

For the record, Isabelle’s favorite song by The Boss is “Lonesome Day,” Pipino told ABC News. Sarah’s is “American Land.”
