Amazing around-the-world trip wasted on baby

If you thought mommy bloggers were out of control before, wait till you get a load of Travel Mad Mum.

Destined to wind up with a kid more precocious than Dakota Fanning, 31-year-old Londoner Karen Edwards packed up her 10-week-old daughter, Esmé, for a whirlwind 10-month tour of half the planet. (Edwards’ baby daddy, Shaun Bayes, tagged along for the ride, too.)

Stops for the fontanelle-sporting (and, yes, most definitely breast-feeding) amazing racer included Ireland, Singapore, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

Travel Mum’s family, naturally, wrote her off as “completely nuts,” according to the Daily Mail. Nevertheless, Esmé was purportedly “really well behaved” — at least in her mom’s eyes (we have no comment from anyone else).

So how the heck does all of this trekking happen on the salaries of a nurse (she) and landscaper (he)? The cost of their trip is estimated to be in the $14,000 range. A boss British version of maternity leave helped (cheers, NHS), along with the couple selling their car and putting their flat up for rent.

Stored up air miles and a British Airways companion-pass fares also helped mitigate the price tag by a few thousand bucks.

Next up on Esmé’s to-go list: Thailand, Cambodia and New Zealand, according to Edwards’ Instagram (which is over 15,000 followers strong, by the by).
