Netflix is saying out with the old and in with the new this month. With so many exciting new titles premiering on Netflix in April 2024, the streamer is giving a last call to plenty of classic shows and movies, from 13 Going on 30 and Silver Linings Playbook, to Imposters and both Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. Don’t want to miss out? Make sure to check out what’s leaving now before you tune into all of the new titles.
What else will Netflix subscribers have to say goodbye in April? Here’s everything you need to know about what movies and shows are leaving Netflix in April 2024!
Why Does Netflix Remove Movies and Shows?
It’s complicated, but here’s our best shot at explaining why this happens: Netflix has spent tens of billions of dollars since its inception to build up their library of shows and movies that they own either outright or control for a long stretch of time, commonly known as Netflix Originals. Everything else on the service has been licensed from another studio or production company, some of whose business interests align with Netflix, and some of whose compete directly with Netflix. As the tectonic plates of the streaming industry continue to shift, Netflix is either gaining or losing the rights to house these movies and shows on their service. Once a month, Netflix sends out a list of everything that is going to expire from their service so their customers can plan accordingly.

Imposters: Seasons 1-2: Leaving Netflix April 4
While there are fairly few TV titles leaving Netflix this month, a tough loss is Imposters, which originally aired on Bravo in 2017. The dark comedy series was sadly canceled after only two seasons in 2018, just a week ahead of the release of the Season 2 finale. Try to carve out some time to stream Imposters before it bids farewell to the streamer, and if you’re unable to, check out Decider’s Imposters coverage to check out what you missed out on.

13 Going on 30: Leaving Netflix April 30
Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo shine in this 2004 rom-com, that will have many fans (like myself) upset about its departure from Netflix. The magic of the film has stood the test of time, as we all were reminded in February during Ruffalo’s Hollywood Walk of Fame induction ceremony, where the two stars briefly broke out into their iconic “Thriller” routine. Thankfully, fans can still watch Garner in Family Switch, another body-swap film released on Netflix last November.
Of course we will also miss Silver Linings Playbook, as well as both Mamma Mia! and Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again!
