Breast friends feed each other’s children

These ladies are the breast of friends.

Two Connecticut moms who breastfeed each other’s children are encouraging others to do the same.

Stefani Tatavitto, 23, frequently acts as a wet nurse for her friend Chrystal Klein’s 19-month-old daughter while Klein works at a local factory.

Klein milks the arrangement as well, nursing Tatavitto’s tot when the young mom feels like hitting the bars.

The duo — who met over Facebook five years ago — started sharing milk when Klein’s daughter Ariana was just 10 months old.

“I don’t think it’s shocking to nurse another woman’s child — breastfeeding is natural,” Tatavitto said. “You drink breast milk from animals, it’s not that weird to drink breast milk from another human.”

Klein agrees, saying the arrangement takes the pressure off.

“Because of Stefani wet nursing, I don’t need to pump milk for my daughter or worry about her not having any milk,” she said. “I would say there are no drawbacks. I only see positive from this.”

While the duo insists there’s no crying over spilled milk, they do realize cross-feeding is controversial.

“My family and friends don’t know that much about our wet nursing arrangements,” Klein said. “Some people might question it, because I know it’s not ordinary to wet nurse nowadays.”

But neither woman’s partner is fazed by the swapping, and the moms have no qualms.

“We were both pregnant at the same time and we were tested for infections and both of us were clear,” said Klein. “The fact that Ariana is getting milk from the tap, I mean that’s exactly how we should drink it.”
