Redskins’ tone-deaf tweet gets skewered by PC police

The Washington Redskins got roasted Thursday for tweeting out a “Happy Thanksgiving” message with the controversial team logo, which features a caricature of an American Indian — four months after a judge ruled the team’s symbol “may disparage” Native Americans.

The tweet came from the Redskins’ official account and read: “Wishing you and your family a Happy #Thanksgiving.”
Twitter users instantly railed that the message was insensitive.
“@Redskins hey, social media person, happy thanksgiving,” wrote @hipsterboner. “I’m sorry you have an out-of-touch idiot boss or bosses who insisted you do this.”
Isaac Gonzalez, who goes by the handle @Gonzo0934, wrote: “Most ironic tweet today.”

“@Redskins remember how you continue to disrespect half of the people that were at Thanksgiving? Neat,” wrote @Cyrus_is_risen.
In July, a federal judge canceled six of the team’s trademark registrations that contained the word “redskin” in a victory for Native American activists who find the term offensive.
Redskins owner Dan Snyder has refused to change the name, saying it represents “a badge of honor.”
The controversial tweet has garnered more than 3,800 retweets and thousands of likes.
