Bollywood actress’ sudden death in NJ not related to liposuction: rep

A rep for the Bollywood actress who died of cardiac arrest in New Jersey denied that her death was linked to a liposuction surgery that went wrong.

New Jersey-born Aarthi Agarwal, 31, who reportedly had suffered from respiratory problems since having the fat-sucking surgery six weeks ago, was rushed to a hospital in Atlantic City, where she died on Friday.

But a rep shot down rumors that the star’s sudden cardiac arrest was at all connected to the procedure, and her father said she had a heart attack, NJ.com reported on Sunday.

Agarwal made her Bollywood debut in the film “Paagalpan” at the age of 16. She got her breakout role in the 2001 film “Nuvvu Naaku Nachav,” which was made in India’s film-industry hub in the county’s southeast, dubbed Tollywood for the regional language Telugu.

Over her 15-year career, she acted in around two dozen Indian films in the Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages. Her latest role was in the movie “Ranam 2” released on Friday, according to the UK’s Daily Mail.

In 2005, vicious rumors in the Indian press and lack of work caused Agarwal to try to kill herself, Indian media reported.
