Dunkin’ Donuts releases festive alternative to Starbucks’ controversial cups

Their cups runneth over — with Christmas spirit!

Dunkin’ Donuts has released a line of holiday cups featuring the word “Joy” surrounded by images of wreaths and holly — a festive alternative to rival Starbucks’ conservative, and controversial, new design.

The launch comes as Starbucks continues to be blasted for their coffee containers, which feature an all-red design adorned with only their logo.

Java junkies cheered the Dunkin’ cups.

In the past, Starbucks cups have featured an array of Christmas themes and illustrations such as snowflakes, ornaments and various winter scenes.

Religious conservatives and other advocates believe the move to shy away from such designs is ultimately part of a national movement to phase out Christian-themed decorations from the holiday season.

The hashtag #MerryChristmasStarbucks later went viral after a self-described Christian activist posted a video online calling out the company for their political correctness.

Presidential candidate Donald Trump even suggested a boycott of Starbucks on Monday night, saying: “If I become president, we’re all going to be saying ‘Merry Christmas’ again.”
