Weatherman wings it after map shows temps up to 2,960 degrees

Talk about handling the heat.

A quick-witted weatherman was forced to improvise a live television forecast when the electronic map he was using went haywire — displaying temperatures of more than 2,000 degrees.

“I think steel boils at about this temperature,” joked Fox 10 meteorologist Cory McCloskey, describing the town of Cave Creek, Ariz., which showed a reading of 2,960 degrees.

“There’s probably nothing left there,” he added. “So don’t even bother looting.”

McCloskey didn’t skip a beat as he reported that Wickenburg — with a temperature of 2,385 degrees — was a “total loss” and that people should “just get out.”

Ahwatukee, which displayed a temperature of 1,270 degrees, was also hilariously singled out by the calm and cool weatherman.

“I’m not authorized to evacuate … but the temperature seems pretty high,” he quipped.

The now-viral weather report has been a lauded by web users who commended McCloskey for his relaxed attitude throughout a segment which would otherwise have been tense.
