CBS newswoman Lara Logan is an inspiration — not just to the profession, but to all.
So it was sad to read in The Post that the “60 Minutes” correspondent is back in the hospital, thanks to complications from a dreadful sexual assault as she covered the 2011 Arab Spring in Egypt.
“There was no doubt in my mind that I was in the process of dying,” Logan later said. “I thought not only ‘Am I going to die?’ but, ‘It’s going to be just a torturous death that’s going to go on forever.’
“For an extended period of time, they raped me with their hands.”
Remarkably, she didn’t let that obscene violation stop her.
She went back into hostile territory to do her job. Most recently, she reported on embattled Christians in Iraq — just six miles from the front lines and ISIS.
If that’s not brave and inspirational, we don’t know what is. It takes courageous, tough people to put themselves in peril to give a voice to the suffering.
We’re sorry to hear that Lara Logan is still suffering consequences of her ordeal. We wish her well.
And, boy, do we admire her grit.
