The most hated dog walker in New York has finally been revealed.
The Manhattan man who allegedly “flipped out” last month and lost Sugar — a beloved pit bull mix who has become a social media celebrity — has been outed in court papers as Tommy Doerr, a 46-year-old East Village resident.
Devastated dog owner Morgan Bogle, 33, is suing Doerr for negligence in Manhattan Supreme Court.
She went to court against Doerr “because he refused to speak to me,” Bogle told The Post.
“I have tried to play detective for three and a half weeks, and the reality is we just don’t know” what happened to the tan-and-white, 4-year-old Sugar, said Bogle.
Bogle, a vegan fashionista, is offering a no-questions-asked $10,000 reward for the dog’s safe return. The dog’s missing posters seems to be papered on every pole in Manhattan, and his mug even graces a billboard on 26th Street.
Doerr, who had been Sugar’s dog walker for three years without incident, could not be reached for comment.
Bogle is seeking $15,000 damages from Doerr, as well as the return of Sugar, who also responds to “Shugy.”
“I just miss her so much,” she said.
The hunt for the dog Bogle adopted in the Bronx four years ago also spawned #FindSugarNYC, a social media campaign that has 19,500 likes on Facebook and more than 2,100 Twitter followers.
“It’s an extremely active following. We have between five and 50 people a day hanging posters, passing out fliers, trolling for any sightings of her online,” Bogle said.
The NYPD’s Animal Cruelty Investigation Squad has been looking into Sugar’s disappearance, and Bogle said she’s been working with Animal Care and Control, the Humane Society and the ASPCA to find her fur-baby.
“There have been several pretty clear sightings but when they’ve been checked out, they’ve been look-a-like dogs,” Bogle said. “There have been lots of leads and nothing concrete.”
Searchers are exploring the chance that Sugar may have ended up in a dog-fighting ring.
“I’ve seen all these dogs, and it makes me so depressed that nobody’s looking for them, and they’re still stuck in there,” she said. “I never in a million years thought that this nightmare would pan out, that I would be involved in such a terrifying hunt for my dog in a city that has a serious fighting problem,” Bogle added.
If dog fighters have Sugar, Bogle has a message for them: “We have been donated $10,000 that we would be more than happy to give to them, without any question being asked. I just want my baby back.”
Bogle had left Sugar in Doerr’s care while she was on a London business trip, but on Feb. 23, witnesses said, Doerr was spotted screaming and kicking at the front door of Bogle’s apartment. Sugar wasn’t with him.
A neighbor texted Bogle about the bizarre behavior and a friend called police, but Sugar has never been found. Anyone with information should email Bogle at findsugarNYC@gmail.com.
