Laid-off CNN reporter’s amazing goodbye

A CNN political reporter has taken to YouTube to make a humorous goodbye video after being laid off as her final assignment.

In the clip, Capitol Hill reporter Lisa Desjardins thanks the news network for “some incredible years,” but also gets in some prime parting jabs.

As part of the video, Desjardins created a “word cloud” of the most common words and phrases a string of laid-off CNN colleagues have used in their goodbye emails to her. The f-bomb, “sucks” and “I licked all the eighth floor coffee cups” all make appearances. The network has been weathering cuts by parent Turner Networks.

Desjardins is then filmed stealing CNN office supplies, including an entire first aid kit, and quips, “I’m sorry that CNN has decided to eliminate my reporter position on the Hill and cut back on congressional coverage. Of course, I’m also sorry that Congress is such a complete mess right now. But, maybe that means we should watch them more closely.”

She also says: “Thank you for some incredible years — and also for making sure that I was, in fact, part of the Great Recession.”

The reporter also comically thanks Redskins owner Daniel Snyder and “the nation of Estonia.”
