Mayor Bill de Blasio has big designer shoes to fill when it comes to the fashion industry.
Following his predecessor Michael Bloomberg’s cozy relationship with Anna Wintour (the pair launched Fashion’s Night Out together), de Blasio is taking his first steps to form ties with Seventh Avenue, hosting a cocktail reception on Sept. 3 to kickoff Fashion Week.
He and New York’s first lady, Chirlane McCray, have invited Diane von Furstenberg and other fashion royalty to the Gracie Mansion fête.
Even Anna is expected
 to make an appearance.
Will Chirlane sport a look from 
her favorite designer, New Yorker Anni Kuan, or will she branch out?
And will Bill go traditional or daring?
